3 weeks worth!
POSTED AT 12:01 AM

ok guys, let's get down to business... (i'll try to make this as short as possible. hehe)

July 22-23 - Me and my colleagues went to  Loreland Farm Resort in Antipolo for some R&R - and some bonding as well. It was a crazy, exciting, tiring, memorable, and yes, weird two days.

The place was HUGE! it had its own billiard hall, basketball and volleyball court, and of course, the ever-so-present swimming pools.
The food was great too, especially the breakfast during Sunday morning (uuuhhhh... tapsilog.... uuhhhh....) . Of course, videoke sessions are always present at parties or get togethers such as this one, and if i remember correctly i recorded one of the highest scores there. Our rooms were sweet! They were the "executive suites" as the resort flyer said. it had 5 beds, 3 of which had those sub-beds which you pull-out. They also had a tv (no cable though) but it dud had a dvd player. It's just a shame that neither of us brought any DVDs. The room also had this long couch by the window, overlooking the mountaing of Rizal. That was a very nice view. And what impressed me the most was the bathroom. Bathtub, sliding door, hot/cold shower... Damn! We were livin it up!

As newcomers, we were asked to make a presentation for all the other employees. Night time came and we did our dance, which everybody applauded."Kinareer" namin, kumbaga. We had a lot of positive fedback from the people there. After the program, more videoke sessions and some getting-to-know-you with the other peeps.

It's just a shame that rain fell during Sunday morning. We had plans of playing basketball that morning but obviously, those plans were nixed. Good thing we played it after swimming (which was part of the "amazing race" section of our team building activities). That was a very tiring yet rewarding experience. Even though we lost, we sure bonded together as a team and we did get to know a lot about our teammates.

Before sleeping on Saturday night (the 22nd), me and some of my friends had a little chit-chat with some of the girls who couldn't sleep. The topic? L-O-V-E. Relationships and such. Now i don't know if it's just me or do they (the guys) really know what their talking about. Looks like they've gone through a lot to know those things they said that night. I was reduced to a listener, which was not bad because their conversation was very interesting and very educational to say the least. If i agreed on something, i just spoke up, but mostof the time the talking was left to the 2 guys and 2 girls. After about an hour all of us decided to get some shut-eye.

That Loreland experience is one thing i'll remember for the rest of my life. Yeah, it's so cliche but it's true. I got to know a lot about my bachmates and thanks to that evening conversation, i've become a lot more aware about relationships with the opposite sex.

(Now onto some non-work related stuff...)

I've recently become addicted to arcade racing games. As you may know, me and me colleagues go to Rob place Pioneer after eating lunch for some games of Sega Rally 2. I really couldn't believe that i could get addicted to something that fast! Of course i was an uber noob at first, but thanks to some practice and pointers from the "expert drivers", i slowly improved my game. Hell, i even defeated those who mentored me! I just felt really good playing with my friends for some leisure time. Oh and winning doesn't hurt either.

Now that we'reno longer located near Rob Place Pioneer, my attention was focused on the "next phase": Initial D. I've loved this anime the first time i watched it. And when I learned that there was an arcade game based on the anime, i was even more psyched! So once we were re-located in Makati, and since we were very near the malls there, my "next phase" tutorial started.

I chose the Nissan Skyline GT-R R-34 (BNR 34) as my car. Timezone-Greenbelt was my practice ground and Akagi was my chosen "home course". I had a hard time adjusting to the controls (Sega Rally and Initial D had huge control differences). But once again, thanks to some practice and some pointers from A.J., i got the hang of the twists and turns of Akagi. Soon after, I was setting personal bests during Time Attack mode, and when i thought the time was right, i started the "Legend of the Street" game mode.

I first tried Akagi and defeated the second driver there (i think he wasl also using a skyline). I haven't defeated the "2 guys from tokyo" and K.T. though...

Shifting from akagi, i choose a fairly easy course, Usui. I first battled with Kawai and defeated him after my second try. I then challenged Toru and I defeated him as well in my second try. When it came to Maya & Simone (Sil-Eighty), this is where i had my troubles. They were so damn fast! I actually had it won twice but thanks to some nasty bumps, i lost. The next day i challenged them again, and this time i made sure that i would win. Soon enough, after my second try, i finally defeated them. Usui Conquered!

After conquering Usui, i chose another easy couse, this time Myogi (i'm completing the easy ones first, occasionally practicing in Akagi when i get the chance). I had some trouble with Iggy, but Kenji was pretty easy. Oh and get this, asi was tackling Myogi, my steering wheel was malfunctioning! I can turn a full right (360 degrees), but the left turn was only around 45 degrees! Just imagine when i time attacked Akagi! Anyways Shingo was up next at myogi, and seeing my handicap (damn steering wheel), i thought to myself that this is gonna be a hard battle. With the limited steering towards the left, it was really like the "gum-tape death match". Fortunately, i beat him in my first try. Hence, Myogi Conquered!

Unfortunately, i didn't go to work yesterday (cough + sinat) so i'll have to wait for monday in order to continue my Initial D saga...

OH, and i also tried out a game... it's called Maximum Tune. I have a card there too, i choose the Mazda RX-7 FD3S

Well i guess this wasn't a short post after all. Hehehe... Well i'll see you guys again!

Addiction
POSTED AT 11:22 PM

wow! a post on a weekday! weird eh?

well as i have told you guys, i've been addicted to  Initial D Version 3 - The arcade game. I've been playing this for about 2 and a half weeks now and i have done nothing after lunch (and at times after work) except going to Greenbelt with my colleague and playing initial d.

I am just addicted (lol) to this game. As i have said in my previous post, i've conquered usui, myogi, and akagi (in that order). I'm now currently at battle level 3 and have spent most of my time doing time trials in order to hon/improve my skills. (and as you guys may or may not know, i'm using a nissan BNR34).

just today after work i practiced alone at greenbelt. I practiced at irohazaka and at akina (snow). I also went to my home course, akagi, wherein i practiced the downhill there under wet conditions. Surprisingly enough, i set a new record in akagi, ranking third fastest there. If that wasn't a shock, i posted the fastest time at akina-snow! (yup. first place. hehe). irohazaka didn't go very well though. that damn track has just so many hard hairpin turns. oh well, i guess practice makes better.

by the way, me and allan are making this initial d tournament. the two of us against another colleague, albert, and his "tropa" from college. tomorrow will be the first battle which will be held at timezone-greenbelt. D-DAY!

well i gotta end this post for the mean time. i'll just leave my PC on because im downloading something. gotta get some shut-eye for tomorrow's downhill battle! (i'm the downhill driver for our team)

thoughts on DotA
POSTED AT 10:31 PM

this is in regards to a Friendster bulletin board post by my friend regrding the truths "daw" about DotA.

**********
DISCLAIMER: i am in no way pro or anti-DotA. i'm just sharing my opinion on this matter
**********

well since nabasa ko ung post about the so-caled "truth about dota" here are MY HONEST OPINIONS about this game called "defense of the ancients".

note:
isa rin ako sa mga nahumaling sa dota nung kasagsagan nito nung college pa ko, pero ngayong may work na ko i don't play this anymore (mainly because sa initial d na ko nahuhumaling... lol... but that's not the point).

anyways, DotA is "nothing more" than a video game. video games are meant to be fun and stress-relievers. but sad to say a heckuva lot of people are "abusing" it, so to speak. so instead of DotA becoming a fun
game, it sometimes results in physical (yes, physical) and emotional harm as well.

what i would just like to say is that we all be responsible for our actions. let's face it, games like this are addictive, especially when you get the hang of playing the game. pero sana naman ay magkaroon tayo ng disiplina. wag naman cguro araw-araw ay nag-dodota tayo or any other e-curricular activity. alam naman natin na ang lahat ng SOBRA ay nakakasama. kaya please let us do everything in moderation and with discipline.

speaking of addiction, it DOES happen that when we are addicted on some thing (amy it be a tv show, anime, video game or whatnot), there are instances na napapaniginipan natin un, lalo na pag araw-araw ay yun ang bukambibig mo... panigurado lagi mong mapapaniginipan un.

biglain na itigil agad agad un. everything has a process.

and most of all, don't forget to pray everyday. wherever you are, remember to pray and thank GOD for all the blessings He has given us. kadalasan kasi ung mga taong nagkakaroon ng mga experience na ganun ay ung mga hindi paladasal.

ayun lang... hehe...

grabe, napapost ako bigla... hehe
