no more help next time?
POSTED AT 11:13 AM

three times... three times failed...

three failures...

ever since i asked for "help"

now,  i'm thinking of not asking for help ever again!

three times... three failures...

never again? i don't know...

is this payback? karma? who knows?

am i taking things too far just because of this?

i don't know....

but who knows? i may not ask for help ever again....

...just in that situation...

i hope i don't have to resort to that

my makati adventure.
POSTED AT 12:19 AM

this post will be edited some time later in the day. right now i am so damn tired. i barely slept last night and probably will barely sleep again tonight. call time tomorrow is 7am. can you believe that?!?

anyways, as i have said, i'll be posting some full details later in the day

(edited on 5-12-2006 at 12:30 am )

okay, so here's what happened during my makati adventure yeaterday and this morning.

yesterday: i went to logicall inc, a company located along pasong tamo (in front of shopwise, mcdo, kfc, and chowking. my tito drove me there because it would be the first time that i travel to that part of makati. at first we had a very hard time locating the building, because it didn't have any billboard or signboard or something. we just asked some "double-mikes" there and surely enough, we eventually found it. their windows were blue-tinted so it was hard to see what was inside. it was around 10am then (i was told the previous day that the interview was at 10am), but wow! there were a helluva lot of applicants! so i went to the front desk andasked the guy there about the interview. he then handed me an application form. wow, i never expected this. i didn't have a ballpen! so i borrowed a ballpen from this guy i was sitting next to. thankfully he let me borrow the pen and he never got it back from me! i guess he just gave it to me then. so after filling out that application form i went back to the front desk and submitted it along with my resume. now, the waiting time begins!

i waited for nearly 2 hours (i actually had to eat my lunch first because naabutan ako ng lunch break), so after lunch i went back there at around 1pm. still we were asked to wait for our names to be called. after 30 minutes, there it was! my name was finally called along with other applicants as we were guided to the 2nd floor where the interview will take place.

their workplace was nice! DELL desktop pc's with flatscreen LCD monitors... wow.... anyways, the interview went pretty well. the interviewer was very polite and carried out the interviews like an ordinary conversation. the deliveration of the results were very nerve-wrecking too! because if you fail in any of the recruitment steps, it's good bye! luckily for all of us, we passed the interview, then headed for the written examination.

the written examw as fairly easy. it was a mixture of grammar usage, subject-verb agreement, abstract reasoning and some math. the math part was just basic though. i answered all of the questions correctly. hehee... anyways, as we were waiting for the results, that doubt started creeping into each one of us. after a few minutes, the results are in! luckily for me, i passed together with 3 other applicants. our other group member was unlucky though. he was left there high and dry, and left in utter disappointment.

after the examination, we then had a language assessment test. it consisted of 4 types of exercise: 2 exercises were when we read an article, and the other 2 were "freestyle" (e.g. no script). included in that freestyle exercise was that we were asked to sell an item to a client (i was very confused at this, because i was applying for tech support associate, not a salesperson!). anyways, i stuttered for most part of the assessment because i was very nervous, i actually thought that that was it for me.

so, after some more minutes (it was 4pm by that time), the results came. my name was called along with 2 girls. we were lead into this cubicle wherein the results were read to us. the two girls passed the assessment and were congratulated. so, i assumed that i failed the assessment. after those 2 girls left the cubicle, i was about to follow them when howie (the name of the guy) stopped me and talked to me about my results. he told me that my results were unique, and that i did indeed pass the assessment. he then added that whether i pass the final interview or not, he was going to endorse me to some other "department" or "position". something like that. he told me it was a "win-win" situation. so, after a firm handshake, i thanked him and left the building.

this morning : call time - 7am. crap, ain't it??? oh well at least this was the last interview. and whether i pass this or not, i'm kind of "guaranteed" another chance. actually, i was thinking about this the night before, whether i should show up for the interview or not, but i guess out of courtesy, you should show up. i left home at around 6am and arrived there with a lot of time to spare! (30 minute-drive from novaliches to makati). so i just waited in the car for a few minutes as i barely got to sleep (a total of 6 hours sleep this past 48 hours...) now i know what it feels when you don't sleep... you hallucinate, and you damn sure have a great headache!

anyways going abck to the interview, we were asked to wait for a few minutes for our name to be called. at around 8am, we were called and asked to head to the third floor for our interview. i was the third of the 5 persons that was to be interviewed.

i actually couldn't believe my ears! the manager there said that i was actually applying for a sales position! would you believe that?!?!?! i applied for tech support then i go to sales?!?! complete crap! so i just finished the interview anyways. i just answered all the questions she had for me. but man, i can't believe i've been tricked!

well she told me that the results will be phoned-in. i dunno what'll happen (or what i will do) if and when i get accepted into the job.

my makati adventure (part 2)
POSTED AT 11:45 PM

hey guys! guess what? i had another makati adventure! this happened yesterday (may 15) but i'm too lazy to write down the details... i'll probably post them some time during this week...

clue: this has something to do with accenture... hehe

(edit)

okay... here goes another long post....

last monday, i went to the accenture office at makati for a pre-employment test.  accompanying me once again was my uncle. anyways, the day startedpretty early, as the exam was scheduled at around 10:30. good thing we arrived there with a lot of time to spare, as we had troubles locating the place.

their office was neat (as what i would exoect with most makati offices). what struck me most though was that tiger woods was their "image model". no wonder the name "accenture" sounded so familiar to me. after some wait, we were now asked to enter the PET room. we were told that the exam would be extremely time-pressured, and the proctor wasn't kidding! there was a module there (the "alphabet abstract reasoning" which i was not able to finish, as there were A LOT of questions! 26 questions for about 15 minutes! damn! well i managed to answer only 15 of them, but correctly (i felt). there was also the module about flowcharts. we were asked to analyze 7 flowcharts within 35 minutes, and boy, those were no ordinary flowcharts! i barely finished it (with about 7 seconds to spare).

after the exam we were told to submit our transcript of records together with our resume and an application form which they provided before the exam started. i was then told to stay at the reception area together with 4 other applicants. surprisingly, we were the ones that passed (talk about instant results!) the others were just told to simply "go home". man, if they only knew.... anyways, the five of us were told to have lunch first, so i just ordered some quarter pounders from the McDonald's drive thru and returned to accenture at around 1:30 pm.

there were more applicants when i returned. so, i decided to read this magazine while waiting for this "facilitator" of ours to facilitate us. it turns out that this facilitator was the same person who called me up last saturday and inform me about the test!  by this time, we were told that mr tito garcia would be interviewing us via phone. the interview was very brief, as he just asked us to describe ourselves, why we chose accenture, and what traits do we think will make us stand out among the rest.

after the interview, the facilitator then analyzed our resumes (we were onlt three then) and told us to wait a little more. after about 5 minutes, he then told one of us that he would be "called" for further details (well, you know what that "actually" means...) so, it was down to me and this guy from UE, graduated BS-ECE last  2005. we became kinda good friends there, as we started talking about lots of stuff. anyways, the two of us were then told to take the physical examination--AT GLORIETTA 3!!! how bout that! so, we then went to G3 (he left first though).

the clinic was called "patent first" and it was located at the third floor of the mercury drug building.  as i arrived there, i saw my UE friend together with lots of other people wanting to have a physical. we were given this sheets of paper to fill-up. to my surprise (and shock), i was number 61 in the queue! oh man! more waiting! good thing adrian was there so we just talked about some college stuff, how he landed in accenture and more.

after about 20 minutes, it was time to take the physical exam. this lasted for a little over an hour, and was pretty... er... surprising...

  • blood test -  the nurse cleaned my middle, index, and thumb fingers, THEN PROCEEDED TO PRICK MY MIDDLE FINGER WITH AN UBER-SHARP PIN! i opened my mouth in awe as she squeezed my middle finger and let the blood flow all the way into this small tube (i was kind of gutwrenching actually.. seeing your own blood being squeezed out of you). ugh! that's one sight i won't soon forget.
  • urine test - i actually thought that i won't be able to fill the small bottle, but i did it! hehe... as expected, urine was warm and bubbly.. lol
  • x-ray - yes, even x-rays were required... this was short and painless...
  • height, weight, eyesight, blood pressure - these vital stats were also measured... damn, i'm 174 cm, 187 lbs! gawd, i'm fat! hehehe my bp's 130/80... is that normal? hehe... eyesight? same old... can only read the first 5 lines of the snellen chart.
  • "private" inspection - oohh... boy.... yes.. even my genitalia were examined... i was told to disrobe (i.e. remove all of my clothing) and wear this hospital gown. as iw as waiting for the physician, i was shocked as two hot women in ther late 20's/early 30's entered the room! they, apparently, were the physicians (well, one of themw as.. the ther was her assistant). she checked my eyes, ears, throat, and limbs for any "irregularities". then... *gulp*.. she asked me to stand up... face the wall, and "bend over" -- literally! said she'll check me for hemorrhoids... if that wasn't shocking, she then told me to show me my... er... "lower extremities"... and at that time, my "shlong" was "!" good gawd! she then told me to cough as she was going to check if i got hernia. she told me to cough twice (i don't know why... probably because she.... hehehe....) hay.... that's one experience i won't soon forget. those women were hot!

after the "examination", i was then told to dress up and leave the room. but wait, i forgot to undergo one more test - the stool exam! well, i just told them that my stoll would be ready by thursday (which is today), so i'll just bring it back to them for it to be analyzed.

and that ends my long, long day. almost 8 hours in makati... didn't get to go shopping at glorietta though... traffic was horrible on the way home... 2 hours! oh well... that's thethings you have to undergo in the "real world".

just like "mike the miz", i just got my reality checked!

/>i'm out

P.S.

i'll be posting part 3 of my makati adventure. please visit this site again by late thursday evening. hopefully, i will have posted my "makati adventure part 3: the convergys scandal". hehehe...)

my makati adventure part 3: the convergys scandal + the return to accenture
POSTED AT 01:24 AM

okay... who would've thunk it... i have a part 3 of my makati adventure! well, this happened last wednesday as i ws up for an exam in convergys. a woman called me on my cell last monday (while i was in accenture) asking if i was interested. well, i did accept the offer, so i was off to makati again!

my test was at noon, and it did start very promptly. we were told to occupy terminals with headsets, because we will have some sort of simulation exam. we were first given a written exam.. 20 items good for 15 minutes. wow! the test was so damn easy! mostly troubleshooting your computer and some basic computer terms.  as soon as i passed that exam (i was informed that i passed), we were then tested on some computer skills--mainly typing, encoding... the usual computer sh*t... hehe... after passing that, we were then asked to undergo this call center simulation test. good thing we weren't asked to speak to real clients. the calls were pre-recorded and we were just asked to select appropriate responses to the calls. well, i passed that one too, which means that i'm scheduled for an interview some time during the last week of may. but, i doubt that i'll be attending that interview because....

...i've just been accepted in accenture! how bout that eh? i dunno if i'm luck or what but as of now, i'm going to be "working" for accenture. i remember telling one of my classmates that i doubt that i'd be working for accenture... hehe... talk about karma... lol. anyways i was briefed about the contract stipulations. i just can't believe some stipulations though, although i have to eventually accept them for what they are. BTW, junior software engineer is my position there in accenture. all thats left for me is to complete the requirements on or before my start date of june 13! oh my! i'm gonna be working soon! hehe... guess happy days are over now... time for some "serious" stuff.

of course, we'll be ujndergoing some training first... 6 months to be exact... and if i don't do good there, then it's goodbye accenture...

well, that's basically my makati adventure these past few days... it was very tiring, but very rewarding in some cases... now, the "real  thing" begins...

POSTED AT 07:51 PM

hey guys! (btw, this may be my first post which is mostly in tagalog)

from makati, punta naman tayo sa manila... yup, that's where i spent half of my day yesterday, falling in line (and the lines were HELL LONG!) to apply for my NBI clearance. my dad accompanied me there and we arrived at around 10:30 am.

man, it was a HELLUVA LONG DAY! pag-akyat pa lang namin dun sa clearance center, ANG INIT!!! NAKNAMFOTS!!! wala man lang nakabukas na electric fan o aircon! the place itself was not properly ventilated. in fact, it almost didn;t have any ventilation at all! (their HUGE windows were not opened) well, no choice, kaya pumila na lang kaming nagtitiis ng init dun at nagtitiis ng haba ng pila para makapag-bayad ng... ENTRANCE FEE?!?!? WHAT?!?!? DIBA GOV'T OFFICE ANG NBI??? hooooo boy..... P20 ung entrance fee... tapos dami pang tao kanina... kulang-kulang cguro mga 500... pag monday daw ganun talaga kadami ang tao...

so ayun... binigyan kami ng yellow stub para makapasok dun... at bumungad sakin ang STEP BY STEP PROCESS ng pag-a-apply for NBI clearance.

hehe... eto, nilagay ko pa sa cell ko ung step-by-step process nila (so, for those who are reading this, well, lucky you! alam mo na kung pano ka mag-a-apply ng NBI clearance):

  • Step 0: Entrance - eto ung pagbabayad mo ng P20. bibigyan ka ng yellow stub which serves as your "pass".
  • Step 1: Payment - hehe.. payment agad no? hehe... pero bago nun may booth dun kung saan i-prepresent mo ung yellow stub mo. may ibibigay na form tapos fifill-apan mo. after filing-u8p the form, pipila ka na dun sa mga teller booth. P115 nga pala ung ibabayad mo.
  • Step 2: Data Check - After step 1, aakyat ka sa 4th floor. nandun ung steps 2, 3, and 4. anyways, sa step 2, pipila ka lang ng pagkahaba-haba para lang ipa-check sa isang tao kung tama ung mga finill=apan mo. pag tama, tatatakan ng red stamp ung form mo. pag ndi, sasabihin sayo tapos you just do what you've been told. simple but long, no?
  • Step 3: QuickSearch - pipila ka ulit para ibigay ang form mo sa isang computer operator. then, i think they check up their name database of all the persons in the philippines (!) para tingnan kung may ka-match kang pangalan, at kung may krimeng nagawa un taong un. once that is done, susulatan nung operator ung form mo tapos pupunta ka na sa step 4.
  • Step 4: Image Capture - pila ulit para magpapicture. tapos tatatakan ung OR at form mo. akyat ng hagdanan sa 5th floor for steps 5, 6, and 7.
  • Step 5: Fingerprinting - well, the name says it all. pila ulit para magpa-fingerprint. lahat ng daliri sa parehong kamay ay ipapa-fingerprint. pwede kang bumili ng pangtanggal ng ink kung gusto mo... 2 pesos...
  • Step 6: Registration - hay.... second-to-the-last step... ibibigay mo ung form at O.R. mo, tatatakan, at sasabihin kung kelan mo makukuha ung clearance mo.
  • Step 7: Release - FINAL STEP. WAIT FOR YOUR TURN AND CLAIM YOUR CLEARANCE ON THE DATE SPECIFIED IN STEP 6.

yan! if your unlucky like me, that whole process will take 1 and a half hours! anyways after that long, grueling process, nag-unwind ako sa may LRT north mall (monumento). bumili lang ako ng mga PS2 games (NBA Live 06 - nasira kasi ung cd ko nun kaya bumili ulit ako; NFS most wanted - ndi kaya ng pc ko... lol... kaya sa PS2 na lang...) inofferan pa ko ng "DVD-DVD!" with mtching "OK hand gesture". i guess you know what that means... lol

and thus ends my long, tiring day... nag-mcdo kami ng dad ko... i ate a quarter-pounder with cheese meal. yummy! i went home fter that while my dad went bck to the office...

i'll be posting some more juicy stuff tomorrow... for now, i have to download some stuff... lol

one-man amazing race
POSTED AT 12:37 AM

hehe... what's up guys....

well, i'm at it again... yesterday was a very tiring day...

morning:  my tita accompanied me to accenture for my supposed contrct signing. obviously, we only commuted via LRT, jeep, and taxi. we even got lost for a while because we were given "wrong information". anyways i arrived at accenture at around half past 10. i went to look for the person who called me up but she wasn't there. instead, sir percival talked to me and just basically told me to come back on tuesday for the contract signing. he also expects me to complete all the requirements by that time. so, knowing this, i just decided to stroll around for a while...

from accenture, we walked a pretty long distance to glorietta. of course, i did some window shopping and i even went back to the stall where i bought my kurt angle "you suck" shirt a few weeks ago. unfortunately, they do not have any more size XXLs, only XL (not enough) and XXL (too big).

seeing as i still needed my SSS E-1 form, me and my aunt went to the sss office at diliman, qc.

afternoon:  well, the process was pretty fast infact. no more than 20 minutes was spent from falling in line to filling up the forms to submitting them and getting my social security number. after that process we decided to eat at a nearby KFC outlet. after lunch, we parted ways. my aunt went back to caloocan while i journeyed to sm fairview.

hehe... 2 mall visits in one day...well i did buy some stuff at SM... i bought some CD-Rs and some slim jewel cases. i also bought a cd case which holds 24 cds. i actually wnted to watch a movie but i was just too tired and too spent out to watch. besides, i just might fall asleep if i choose to watch a movie. so, i just decided to go home...

ahhh... i miss college days... the blumentritt buddies (complete or incomplete) doing all the wild, tiring, and sometimes, extreme stuff... hehe.... still remember that españa gig we went though... damn!
